Group classThe following is a description of the content students will find in each level. We refrain from labeling our students as beginner, intermediate or advanced. Keep in mind a dancer of a certain level can have strengths or weaknesses that are just part of the learning curve for that individual. Sentimiento believes one never stops learning, once a student always a student!

Salsa Classes

Level IA is for students with little to no salsa experience. This is not a progressive class.

Each class will consist of detailed instruction of the following core fundamentals:

  • Tension, frame, posture
  • Proper weight change, basic step, emphasis on foot placement
  • Timing
  • Basics of Latin body motion technique
  • Basic shines to develop foot articulation
  • Musicality exercises, structure of a salsa song
  • Basic partner work moves with emphasis on continuous motion and connection.
  • Floor craft, social etiquette
  • Salsa history/background

Dance classLevel IB is for students who have graduated from Sentimiento’s Salsa Bootcamp program or have some knowledge of Salsa fundamentals. This is not a progressive class. Each Class will consist of a review of the core fundamentals in Level I with a focus on precision and accuracy.

Level II is for students with solid fundamental skills and who can master timing changes. This is not a progressive class. Each class will consist of shines and partner work with emphasis on continuous motion and connection. This class will definitely challenge you and push thos students who are looking to grow. This class will cover the following:

  • Shines/footwork utilizing syncopated timing
  • Technique to execute multiple spins
  • Partner work technique to lead/follow unconventional patterns and turns
  • Checks and redirections (both shines and partner work)

Traditional Bachata Classes

BachataLevel I is for students with little to no Bachata experience. This is not a progressive class. Each class will consist of reviewing the following core fundamentals:

  • Timing
  • Proper weight change, emphasis on foot placement
  • Technique for Latin motion
  • Basic step variations
  • Core fundamental footwork variations
  • Musicality
  • Basic partner work with lead/follow fundamentals
  • Floor craft & social etiquette
  • Bachata history/background

Level II is for students who have mastered the basic fundamentals and are ready to experience what bachata is truly about. This class will consist of:

  • Complex footwork combinations
  • Footwork using syncopated timing
  • Partner work with lead and follow instruction
